Shop Rite Deals 5/31 - 6/6

Young, Fabulous & Frugal is extremely proud to be a member of the Grocery Gathering. Visit BeCentAble's Grocery Gathering here to find great deals at stores near you!

My goal was to get the Shop Rite list up yesterday so I apologize for the delay. There are a few things you need to know about Shop Rite:

  • Most Shop Rites run their sales from Sunday - Saturday
  • Shop Rite doubles coupons up to $0.99. You will see that I took this into account when listing my final prices.
  • When items are B1G1 you should always use 2 coupons, since you are technically buying 2 items.
  • Always combine manufacturer coupons and store coupons when possible for additional savings.
  • There is an abbreviations key in the right sidebar - feel free to check there if you see any that you don't understand!
  • Shop Rite offers $0.02 back for every plastic or paper bag that your bring in and reuse and $0.05 back for every reuseable shopping bag that you use.

Share a Little Comfort

If you have one free minute everyday, then you have time to do a really good deed. By going to Kraft's Share a Little Comfort website and clicking the "donate a free box" button, you can send one box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese to Feeding America - the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. You can click once a day - the goal is 1,000,000 boxes.

While you're there, you can also print out a coupon for $1.50 off one box of Kraft Mac 'n Cheese Deluxe or Velveeta Shells and Cheese and a buy 3 get 1 free coupon for regular Kraft Mac 'n Cheese. There - you just fed America and your family at the same time. You should be proud of yourself.

Celebrate Burt's Bees' Burt Day with a FREE Lip Balm

Burt's Bees is turning 25 this month and to celebrate they are giving away 1,000 free lip balms each day for 25 days. They've made the giveaway randomized so it will start anytime between 9am and 12pm each day between now and June 20. My advice would be to get there early and keep checking back - I was lucky enough to get mine today! Remember, it's one per household. They will mail you a free lip balm coupon in 1-4 weeks if you're one of the lucky 25,000 winners - and if you're as hooked on Burt's Bees as I am, you'll feel REALLY lucky!

FREE Chocolate Fridays!

If you haven't gotten in on this deal yet - you need to go to the Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act website right now! Every Friday through September Mars will give away a coupon for a FREE chocolate bar to the first 25,000 people that go to the site and sign up. You are limited to one per email address per day and four per household total. The site is open from 9am - 11:59pm EST but I would get there early. I already signed up for mine today... did you?

Welcome!

Welcome to Young, Fabulous & Frugal! This is a very special new project for me and I can't wait to share my adventures in frugality with you. Through this blog, I hope to be able to teach my readers some great money-saving methods so they can make some extra room in their budgets and have lots of fun doing it. But before we get to the good stuff, I want to tell you how I got started on this journey and show my appreciation to the people who really inspired me to become fabulously frugal.

Just a few years ago, I was working as a waitress and feeling really unfulfilled. I knew I was capable of more, but I was scared to leave my comfort zone and I was really disappointed in myself. I was too afraid to face the situation I had created for myself and instead I would go shopping to lift my spirits. We've all heard of retail therapy, right? Well, I was a pro at it. I was spending mindlessly and panicking when the bills came in. Sometimes I didn't even open them; at any given time you could find a hefty stack of unopened bills stashed under my bed. I was desperate for guidance and got just the push I needed when I was flipping channels one night and saw The Suze Orman Show for the first time. I got hooked on the "Can I Afford It?" segment, and before I knew it I was in my local library checking out a copy of her book "Young, Fabulous & Broke". I would have bought my copy but, well, I was broke (sorry, Suze). I learned a lot of things from that book; one of them being that I could have money and not spend it.. what a concept! I also discovered an interest in finance that I never knew I had. I began reading everything I could find on the topic, and then proceeded to educate all my friends on the importance of emergency funds, a good FICO score, and saving for retirement (you're welcome, Suze).

Fast forward a couple years - picture me slightly older with a new job and a better handle on my finances. It was at this point that I decided I was ready to move out on my own and so my boyfriend and I signed a lease on a new apartment. With my newfound independence came a whole lot of newfound expenses, and we were constantly looking for new ways to cut back and make some extra room in our budget. It was around this time that a night of channel surfing once again gave me just the inspiration I was seeking. This time it was an episode of Dr. Phil and his guest was a woman named Ashley - aka Frugal Coupon Mom (currently located at http://www.frugalcouponliving.com/). Through this segment and some awesome blogs, Ashley's included, I learned how to master the art of couponing and deal hunting. I was so impressed at how much I was able to reduce our spending on grocery and household items that I wanted to share my new gift with others.

I'm so thrilled that you're here! You'll want to be sure to bookmark this page and check back often because I have lots in store for you.
